About the Area
Most of Southbourne was built in the early twentieth century, and many of the roads between Southbourne Grove and the cliff top are lined with Edwardian and interwar houses. Behind the paint, that usually means original plaster that has cracked at the ceiling line, hollow patches on the chimney breasts and years of filler that no longer sits flat.
Plenty of those houses have since been turned into flats, which brings its own jobs: making good around new partitions, re-skimming after a refurb and repairing ceilings after a leak from the flat above. Closer to the sea, outside walls take the brunt of salt and wind, and render repairs are a regular call.
Tuckton and Wick, by the river, add bungalows and family homes where textured ceilings and knocked-through ground floors are common. Wherever you are in BH6, we will tell you honestly what the job needs before we price it.

How We Work
Parking and access in Southbourne can be tight, so we sort the practical details before the first day on site.
Tell us the rooms, rough sizes and whether you are in a house or a flat. A few photos let us give you a guide price quickly.
We check for hollow plaster, damp and old repairs, then send a written quote and talk through parking and access for the job.
Damaged areas are cut back first, beads go on the corners, then the finish coats are laid on and trowelled flat as they firm.
Waste, sheets and bags all leave with us. We point out drying times and when the first mist coat can go on.
Tell us what needs doing in your Southbourne home or flat and we will arrange a visit, send a written price and agree a start date.

Rendered the front and side of the house in K Rend. Neat lines, tidy scaffolding and a fair price.
Our 1930s hallway walls were all over the place. They straightened everything out and the corners are razor sharp.
We manage several rentals and use them for all our plastering now. Reliable with dates, which matters to us.
Skimmed over textured walls in our rental flat. You would never know what was underneath it now.
Quoted on the Monday, started the following week, finished on the day they said. No surprises on price.
Patch repairs in three bedrooms plus a hallway ceiling. Tidy work and genuinely nice lads to have in the house.
Skimmed our whole downstairs after we took the wallpaper off. Walls came up perfectly flat and they cleaned up every evening.
Coving in the hallway was damaged in places. Repaired and matched so well I cannot spot the joins.

FAQs
What Southbourne homeowners and flat owners tend to ask before we start. Call if you want to talk through your own job.
01202 125594We price per wall and per ceiling after seeing the room or clear photos, because the condition of older plaster varies so much. Quotes are free, written and usually back within 48 hours.
Yes, along with Pokesdown, Iford, Fisherman’s Walk and every street in BH6.
Once the leak is fixed and the ceiling has dried out, we cut out the damaged board or plaster, fit new board where needed and skim the whole ceiling so the repair does not show.
It usually means the old plaster has lost its bond. Those areas need cutting out and rebuilding before any skim, otherwise the new finish can crack or come away with them.
Yes. Salt and wind get into small cracks, so we cut the damaged render back to a sound edge and rebuild it in the same system to seal the wall again.
Yes. We board and skim the new walls and blend them into the existing ceilings and walls so the rooms look as if they were always that shape.
We will talk it through when we price the job. On busy roads we plan deliveries and loading around restrictions so we are not in anyone’s way.
Once the plaster has dried to an even pale colour, usually three to seven days. Start with a mist coat of watered-down emulsion before your finish coats.
