The Service

One plastering package, from bare walls to ready to decorate

On a new build or extension, the plastering sits right in the middle of the programme. If it runs late, the kitchen fitter, electrician and decorator all wait. We plan our days around your builder's schedule and keep them posted, so the trades after us can start when planned.

We price the whole job as one package: plasterboard on ceilings and stud walls, float and set on blockwork where walls need building out, beads on every corner and reveal, and a full skim throughout. That means one team, one price and one standard of finish across every room.

We work for homeowners managing their own extension and for builders and developers across Poole, Ferndown, Wimborne and Christchurch. Larger jobs fill the diary a few weeks in advance, so it pays to get in touch as soon as your build has a rough programme.

How We Work

How Our New Build & Extension Plastering Works

Four stages that fit around the rest of the build, from pricing the drawings to handing over rooms ready for the decorator.

01

Price from Plans or a Visit

Send the drawings or let us walk the site. You get a written price for the whole plastering package, broken down so you can see what is included.

02

Fit into the Programme

We agree dates with you or your builder around first fix and second fix, and confirm them in writing so everyone knows when we are on site.

03

Board, Float & Bead

Ceilings and stud walls are boarded and taped, blockwork gets float and set where it needs building out, and every corner and reveal is beaded.

04

Skim & Hand Over

A full skim goes on throughout. We light-check each room, clear our waste and hand over rooms that are ready for mist-coat and decorating.

Two-storey extension plastered start to finish. Kept pace with our builder and left it ready to decorate.

Ferndown — Extension plastering
Knocked the kitchen and dining room through and needed the whole space skimming. Turned up when they said and finished on schedule.

Southbourne — Wall & ceiling plastering
Old lath and plaster wall was boarded out then skimmed. Talked me through the options honestly before quoting.
Rachel D.
Charminster — Plasterboard & skim
Quoted on the Monday, started the following week, finished on the day they said. No surprises on price.
Andrew L.
Kinson — Re-skimming
We manage several rentals and use them for all our plastering now. Reliable with dates, which matters to us.
Claire B.
Boscombe — Landlord, repairs
Skimmed our whole downstairs after we took the wallpaper off. Walls came up perfectly flat and they cleaned up every evening.
Sarah M.
Winton, Bournemouth — Wall & ceiling skimming
Our 1930s hallway walls were all over the place. They straightened everything out and the corners are razor sharp.

FAQs

New build & extension plastering questions

What homeowners and builders ask us most when planning a project. If your programme is tight, call early and we will tell you honestly what dates we can hold.

01202 125594
How much does extension plastering cost in Bournemouth?

We price each project as a full package from the drawings or a site visit, based on the area of walls and ceilings, what they are built from and what finish is needed. The quote is free, written and broken down, usually back within 48 hours.

What does a full plastering package include?

Everything between the bare structure and a surface ready for paint: boarding and taping ceilings and stud walls, float and set on blockwork, beads on corners and reveals, and a skim throughout. Anything outside that is listed clearly on the quote.

Can you price for a builder or developer?

Yes. Send the drawings and the programme, and we will price the plastering for the whole site and confirm the dates we can hold.

How far ahead do I need to book?

For a whole extension or new build, allow three to four weeks. Once you have a rough programme, even with dates still moving, call and we will pencil you in.

What is float and set?

It is a backing coat of plaster followed by a skim finish. We use it on blockwork and older walls that need building out and straightening, not just a finishing coat.

Can you work on site alongside other trades?

Yes. We agree dates around first and second fix, keep our area tidy and clear our own waste, so the trades after us can get straight on.

How long before a new extension can be decorated?

Fresh plaster usually takes three to seven days to dry, and longer on float and set or in cold, damp weather. A new extension with plenty of wet trades may need a little longer before the mist coat.

Do you take on projects outside Bournemouth?

Yes. Extensions and new builds in Poole, Christchurch, Ferndown, Wimborne, Ringwood, Verwood and New Milton are regular work for us, and we will travel further into east Dorset and west Hampshire for larger sites.
