About the Area

Plastering for Christchurch homes, old and new

Christchurch packs a lot of history into a small space. The streets around the Priory, the High Street and Bridge Street have older houses with solid walls, uneven surfaces and ceilings that have been patched over the years, where the aim is to bring things back flat without fighting the character of the building.

Out towards Mudeford, Friars Cliff, Highcliffe and Walkford, the housing is mostly bungalows and chalet homes from the middle of the last century. Textured Artex ceilings are common there, as are cracked ceilings where roof spaces have been converted, and outside walls that take the full force of the weather off the sea.

Burton and Somerford add newer estates and plenty of extensions. Wherever you are in BH23, we will tell you at the survey stage whether a room needs patching, a re-skim or new boards first, and put the price in writing.

FAQs

Plastering questions from Christchurch customers

Answers to what Christchurch customers most often ask before booking.

01202 125594
How much does plastering cost in Christchurch?

We price each wall and ceiling rather than charging by the hour, and it depends on the condition of the surface. A small bedroom skimmed throughout is around £450 as a guide. We confirm the price in writing before starting.

Do you cover Highcliffe and Mudeford?

Yes — along with the town centre, Burton, Somerford, Friars Cliff, Walkford, Purewell, Stanpit and Jumpers. If you have a BH23 postcode, we cover you.

Can you cover the Artex ceilings in my bungalow?

Usually, yes. Light patterns can be sealed and skimmed straight over. Heavier swirls are knocked back or boarded first so the finish comes out flat. Older textured coatings are checked before anything is scraped.

My render is cracking on the sea-facing side. Can you fix it?

Yes. We cut the loose and cracked render back to a sound edge and rebuild it in a matching system, so the wall is weathertight again and the repair blends in.

Can you plaster a loft conversion ceiling?

Yes. Sloping ceilings, dormer cheeks and new stud walls are boarded, taped and skimmed, working alongside your builder’s programme.

How soon could you start?

Single rooms and repairs can often be fitted in within a week or two. Bigger jobs are usually booked a few weeks ahead, so get in touch early if you have a deadline.

Do I need to empty the room?

Take out what you can and take down curtains and light fittings. Anything too heavy can stay in the middle of the room under dust sheets.

What guarantee do you give?

A written ten-year workmanship guarantee. If a problem comes back to how we prepared or applied the plaster, we return and put it right.
