The Service
Clean lines where the wall meets the ceiling
Coving hides the junction between wall and ceiling, where hairline cracks love to appear, and gives a room a finished look. Cornice is its more decorative cousin, and plenty of Victorian and Edwardian homes in Boscombe, Westbourne and Southbourne still have the original.
For new coving, we set out the room so the mitres meet cleanly in every corner, bed the lengths in adhesive, and fill and point the joints so they cannot be seen once painted. It works well straight after a fresh skim, when the walls and ceiling are at their flattest.
Damaged cornice needs a gentler hand. We clean back loose sections, rebuild missing pieces in plaster to match the profile, and blend the repair into the run either side, so you cannot tell where the old stops and the new starts.
- New coving fitted in any room
- Damaged coving and cornice repaired and matched
- Clean mitres and invisible joints
- Ideal alongside a new ceiling skim
How We Work
How Our Coving & Cornicing Process Works
Most of the skill in coving is in the setting out, so we spend time measuring before we cut anything.
Choose the Profile
For new coving, we help you pick a profile and size that suits the room. For repairs, we take a close look at the existing cornice and work out how best to match it.
Set Out & Cut
We measure each wall, mark the line all the way round and cut the mitres, so every internal and external corner meets without a gap.
Fix & Rebuild
Coving is bedded in adhesive and held true while it sets. Missing sections of cornice are rebuilt in plaster and shaped to follow the original run.
Fill, Point & Tidy
Joints and edges are filled and pointed so nothing shows under the paint. We clear up, and tell you when it is ready to decorate.

Reviews
Coving and plastering reviews from local customers
Coving in the hallway was damaged in places. Repaired and matched so well I cannot spot the joins.
Artex ceiling in the lounge was covered over and you would never know it was there. Huge difference to the room.
Our 1930s hallway walls were all over the place. They straightened everything out and the corners are razor sharp.
Skimmed our whole downstairs after we took the wallpaper off. Walls came up perfectly flat and they cleaned up every evening.
Quoted on the Monday, started the following week, finished on the day they said. No surprises on price.
Patch repairs in three bedrooms plus a hallway ceiling. Tidy work and genuinely nice lads to have in the house.
We manage several rentals and use them for all our plastering now. Reliable with dates, which matters to us.
Old lath and plaster wall replaced with plasterboard and skimmed. Explained the options clearly before starting.

FAQs
Coving & cornicing questions
What people usually ask before having coving fitted or cornice repaired. For period features, a photo of the profile helps us answer properly.
01202 125594How much does coving cost in Bournemouth?
It depends on the length of the run, the number of corners and the profile you choose. Repairs to period cornice depend on how much is missing. We quote in writing, usually within 48 hours, and there is a minimum half-day charge for small jobs.
What is the difference between coving and cornice?
Coving is a plain, curved moulding between wall and ceiling. Cornice is the broader term for decorative mouldings, often with more detailed profiles, as found in many period homes.
Can you match my existing cornice?
We match the profile as closely as possible when rebuilding missing sections, and blend the repair into the run either side. For very ornate or unusual cornice, we will tell you honestly what is achievable before we start.
Should coving go up before or after plastering?
After. Coving is best fitted once the walls and ceiling are skimmed and dry, so it sits against a flat surface and the joints stay tight.
Why does my coving have a crack along the top?
Usually it is slight movement between the ceiling and the wall, or coving that was not fully bedded in the first place. We cut out the old filler, re-fix any loose lengths and re-point the joint.
Can you fit coving on a ceiling that is not straight?
Yes. We set out a line that looks right in the room and fill any small gaps along the edge, so the coving reads straight even where the ceiling is not quite level.
When can I paint new coving?
Once the adhesive and filler have fully set, usually a day or two. Plaster coving takes a mist coat first, just like fresh plaster.
Do you fit coving outside Bournemouth?
Yes. We fit and repair coving in Poole, Christchurch, Ferndown, Wimborne, Ringwood, Verwood and New Milton. For period homes a little further afield, call and ask.
