About the Area
Poole covers an unusually wide mix of property. The Victorian terraces around Old Town and Parkstone are largely lath and plaster with textured ceilings added later, while the interwar semis in Oakdale, Alderney and Newtown usually need cracked ceilings and blown patches cutting out before anything is skimmed.
Along the harbour and around Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs and Lilliput, salt air and driving rain are hard on render, so exterior work and K Rend repairs come up far more often. The newer estates at Broadstone, Creekmoor and Upton are mostly plasterboard, where taping, dry lining and full new build skims are the usual jobs.
Knowing what is likely behind the wall before we start means our quotes hold up. We can usually tell you on the phone whether your job needs patching, a full re-skim or boarding out first.

Not every job is a full room. These are the extras we are asked for most, and they often get done alongside the main work.
Blown and salt-damaged areas hacked off, treated and re-plastered.
Period ceilings and walls stabilised or overboarded to match.
Backing coat plus skim where walls need building out, not just finishing.
Crisp, straight arrises on openings, reveals and external angles.
Socket chases, removed radiators and doorway infills made good.
Every room skimmed to a single programme, priced as one job.
How We Work
Four straightforward stages, from your first call to the moment we hand the room back to you.
Tell us the rooms involved, rough sizes and the condition of the existing walls or ceilings. Photos help. We give you a clear written price, usually within a day.
We check for hollow or blown plaster, damp and loose paint, then sheet up, mask edges, fit beads where needed and PVA or grit-prime the surface so the skim bonds properly.
Two coats of finish plaster applied wet-on-wet, then trowelled up in stages as it firms so walls and ceilings dry flat, with crisp internal and external angles.
We light-check the finish for shadows, take away waste and sheeting, and explain drying times and when to mist-coat before you decorate.
Tell us what needs doing and we will come out, take a look and give you a clear price with a start date.

Skimmed the whole ground floor of our Parkstone semi after we took the wallpaper off. Flat as anything and they cleaned up every evening.
Artex ceiling in the lounge covered over. You would never know it was there and the room feels twice as bright.
Bathroom leak brought our kitchen ceiling down. Boarded and skimmed within two days of my call.
Rendered the seaward side of the house in K Rend after years of salt damage. Neat lines and a fair price.
We manage rentals across Poole and use them for everything now. Reliable with dates, which matters to us.
Hallway coving was damaged in three places. Repaired and matched so well I cannot find the joins.
Two-storey extension plastered start to finish. Kept pace with our builder and left it ready to decorate.
Old lath and plaster wall replaced with board and skimmed. Explained the options properly before quoting.
Quoted Monday, started the following week, finished on the day they said. No surprises on price.
Damp-damaged plaster in the back bedroom hacked off and redone. Tidy work and genuinely nice lads.
Skimmed over textured walls in our flat near the quay. Completely transformed the place.

01202 125594We price per wall and per ceiling, not by the hour. A standard bedroom ceiling skim starts around £200 and a small bedroom skimmed throughout around £450. Condition, access and ceiling height all affect it, so we quote in writing after seeing the room or clear photos.
All of it — Old Town, Parkstone, Branksome, Oakdale, Newtown, Hamworthy, Creekmoor, Broadstone, Upton, Lilliput, Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks. There is no travel charge anywhere in the BH12 to BH17 postcodes.
Small repairs and single ceilings can often be fitted in within a week or two. Whole houses and new builds are usually booked three to four weeks ahead, so call early if you have a fixed completion date.
In most cases yes. Shallow patterns can be bonded and skimmed over; heavier swirls are scraped back or overboarded first. Pre-2000 textured coatings are always checked before any dry removal.
Yes, and it is a regular job around the harbour and Sandbanks. Salt air and driving rain cause cracking and blown patches, which we cut out and rebuild in matching K Rend, monocouche or sand and cement.
Usually three to seven days to dry, longer on solid walls or in winter. Once the surface is evenly pale, start with a mist coat of watered-down emulsion before your finish coats.
Regularly. We handle tenancy turnarounds across Poole, including patch repairs, full re-skims and damp-damaged plaster, and we can work to an agent’s schedule.
Always. Floors and any remaining furniture are sheeted before we mix, and waste, sheeting and plaster bags leave with us at the end of the job.
